Adoption Process

Child with Dog Color Cropped

MAHS does its best to place the animals it cares for into new and loving forever homes. Our adoption program consists of completing a short adoption application, having a manager go over the application, and then agreeing to our contract. Below are a few requirements of our adoption contract:

  • All animals must be spayed and/or neutered.
  • Adopters must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Renters must show permission from landlord to own pets.
  • Animals are to be treated humanely and all state laws followed.

Adoption Fees (Cash, Check, and now accepting Credit/Debit)

  • Dogs: $175
  • Cats: $75

Our adoption fees go directly to helping cover the cost of caring for the animals in our care. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccinations, wormed, and treated for fleas. Cats receive their FRCCP vaccination, a feline leukemia test, flea treatment, worming, and spay/neuter surgery as well.

Remember when you are adopting from the Marion Humane Society, you are saving and providing a better life for an animal.
