Board Member Application

Thank you for your interest in joining the Board of Directors of the Marion Area Humane Society! Meetings are held once per month (minimum) with additional committee meetings as needed. Members are encouraged to participate in community awareness volunteer opportunities. The Board of Directors does not directly oversee the operations of the shelter, rather the shelter is operated by full-time staff who report to the board. The board is responsible for reviewing income and expenses on a monthly basis, making financial decisions for the society, organizing fundraisers, and reviewing policies.

Please bear in mind that while we are not a "No Kill" shelter, we use euthanasia as a last resort method; sometimes it is for illness that cannot be treated or aggression problems that cannot be rehabilitated. What are your feelings regarding euthanasia?
